Consignment of personal income tax (IRS) - 506 248 259

Turn 1% of your personal income tax into health for everyone

At no cost, you can support GAT's work in preventing, testing and responding to HIV and other STIs. All you have to do is enter the VAT number 506 248 259 on your tax return.

As of 2025, you can now donate 1% of your personal income to a non-profit social or environmental organization. This donation doesn't cost you anything, but it can make a real contribution to public health in Portugal.

By donating this 1% to GAT, you are directly supporting public health and access to prevention, diagnosis and treatment of HIV and other Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) through GAT's centers and services. Its consignment also supports advocacy and research by GAT activists. In Portugal, GAT is responsible for:

Carrying out 44% of rapid tests

Almost half of the rapid tests carried out throughout the country were carried out by CAT services. Increasing accessibility to rapid testing translates into early diagnosis and the breaking of transmission chains. It also provides immediate and appropriate responses to those who need them.

Since the beginning of GAT's activity, we have defended the implementation of the rapid test in Portugal and advocated its integration into a combined screening model for HIV, syphilis and hepatitis B and C. Combined screening increases the effectiveness of identifying and diagnosing other STIs.

Diagnosis of 36% of new HIV infections referred for treatment in the SNS

GAT services were responsible for referring more than a third of people with a recent HIV diagnosis for treatment in the National Health Service.

The accessibility of rapid, free, anonymous and confidential testing for key populations in the HIV epidemic guarantees GAT's contribution to public health with more effective screening, based on science and respect for human rights.

Referral of 77% of people started on PrEP in the NHS

More than three out of every four people who started this prevention method were referred by GAT, reinforcing our commitment to effective and accessible solutions for all people, which can be combined with other prevention methods.

GAT has advocated for the accessibility of Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) in Portugal, even before it was made available on the National Health Service. Today we have PrEP, but we continue to advocate for universal PrEP, including through free consultations at the GAT Checkpoint LX center and GAT Intendente.

Distribution of 18% of free condoms in Portugal

Almost one in five condoms distributed free of charge in Portugal has passed through the hands of GAT activists, made available at GAT's community-based centers and outreach services. On International Condom Day, celebrated in conjunction with the AIDS Healthcare Foundation, we distributed 10,000 condoms in Lisbon.

Consigning 1% of your personal income tax (IRS) is a simple, cost-free way to support a social cause. When you fill in your tax return, you can indicate an organization to which you would like to donate 1% of the tax that would go to the state. In other words, you don't pay more or receive less - you just choose where to apply part of your taxes.
