The Treatment Activists Group (GAT) and the AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) are once again celebrating International Condom Day in a simultaneous initiative in 45 countries. This year, the day falls on Shrovetide Tuesday, February 13, so the activities take place on February 14 - the day of love, which, like condoms, is Always in Fashion!
With the support of the Misericórdia Parish Council and the Lisboa Sem Sida - Fast Track Cities initiative of Lisbon City Council, the activities take place at the São Pedro de Alcântara viewpoint and are free to enter. During the activities, the importance and effectiveness of condoms is promoted and internal and external condoms are distributed, as well as preventive information for safer sex.
The entertainment will include a DJ set by Kiko is Hot and performances by drag queens Fortuna Beige, Lucy Fromell and Miss Velvet. Mary Poppers, one of the GAT Checkpoint LX screening technicians, is also performing and hosting the event.
Bearing in mind that condoms, one of the most effective means of preventing HIV and other STIs, are part of a larger prevention strategy that includes screening and treatment, the GAT team offers fast, anonymous, confidential and free screening for HIV, HBV and HCV (hepatitis B and hepatitis C) and syphilis.
