CAB PT

The Portuguese Community Advisory Board is a platform formed by activists in the area of treatment for HIV, viral hepatitis, sexually transmitted infections, and frequently associated diseases. It is the objective of the CAB PT:

1) Develop and strengthen advocacy capacities in the area of treatment of members;

2) Train members on current treatment issues;

3) Promote the opportunity to interact with physicians, researchers, and pharmaceutical companies;

4) Inform and advise the actors involved in antiretroviral treatment (health professionals, politicians, regulators/decision makers, pharmaceutical companies, among others) on the community's position concerning these areas.

Who can be a member?

All people infected or affected by HIV, viral hepatitis, and other STIs, as well as activists in this area. Members who adhere to the CAB-PT do so individually, although they may belong to one or several organizations in the area.

What are the CAB PT meetings?

CAB PT meetings usually occur on Saturdays between 9 am and 6 pm. In the morning, a meeting with the pharmaceutical industry is organized, followed, in the afternoon, by an internal discussion, open to all participants and, later, an internal meeting exclusively for members.

Meetings usually occur in Lisbon, and members/guests who do not live in Lisbon are invited to arrive the day before. GAT previously approved all travel, accommodation, and food expenses arising from the meeting.
