The “Fast-Track Cities Seixal” initiative, part of the global Fast-Track Cities network, embodies the Municipality of Seixal’s commitment to helping end the epidemics of HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, viral hepatitis, and other communicable diseases by 2030, in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Based on a community-driven, inclusive, and evidence-based approach, the initiative promotes equitable access to integrated HIV screening, treatment, and prevention, including the provision of condoms and harm-reduction materials, as well as access to pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP). It also integrates responses in the areas of viral hepatitis, tuberculosis, and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs), risk reduction and harm reduction strategies, the promotion of mental health, and the management of comorbidities associated with aging with HIV.
Fast-Track Cities Seixal promotes collaboration between the municipality, health services, civil society organizations, and local communities—including migrant populations and those in situations of greater vulnerability—in a people-centered, human rights-based response committed to eliminating stigma and discrimination.
