GAT and European organisations launch platform on harm reduction and NPS
21 Maio 2026GAT – Grupo de Ativistas em Tratamentos is organising an online workshop on 27 May to launch and present the new digital training platform developed under the Erasmus+ project NEHRD – NextGen Harm Reduction: Tackling the Challenge of Emerging Psychoactive Drugs, co-funded by the European Union.
The NEHRD project brings together organisations from Portugal, Serbia, Romania and North Macedonia with experience in the field of harm reduction, including GAT with Kosmicare partnership, Re Generacija (Serbia), ARAS (Romania) and Healthy Options Project Skopje (North Macedonia). The development of the platform was coordinated by the Serbian organisation Re Generacija.
The platform can already be visited in nextgenharmreduction.com and was created to respond to the growing need for accessible, up-to-date and practice-oriented training resources on New Psychoactive Substances (NPS), harm reduction and community-based responses.
The platform therefore aims to strengthen the capacity of professionals and other stakeholders working in health, social, community, education, public policy and civil society settings. It also serves as an accessible learning space for students and young professionals who wish to deepen their knowledge in the field of harm reduction.
The course includes different thematic modules on:
- fundamentals of Harm Reduction;
- New Psychoactive Substances (NPS);
- harm reduction practices and services;
- professional conduct and communication;
- public policies and the legal framework of harm reduction.
The online workshop will take place on 27 May, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., and participation is free, subject to prior registration through this link. During the workshop, participants will have the opportunity to learn about the project, explore the platform’s contents, attend a guided demonstration and discuss current challenges related to NPS and harm reduction.
