19 Outubro 2023

The 5th Edition of the Caixa Social Awards from Caixa Geral de Depósitos awarded 36 innovative social projects that promote social inclusion. For this purpose, the Portuguese Activist Group on Treatments (GAT) was one of the entities awarded the GAT Par a Par service.

The Caixa Social Award was received on Tuesday, October 17th, by João Brito, current President of the GAT Board, as well as in the presence of Telma Martins, GAT Project Management Technician. This award results in a funding that allows to continue providing the GAT Par a Par service confidentially and free of charge.

GAT Par a Par is a project that complements the screening services of GAT and partner hospital centers. It stands out for its innovative and peer-to-peer approach, as it accompanies people living with HIV and/or viral hepatitis, men who have sex with men (MSM), migrants and people who use drugs (PUD), carried out by people in the community themselves.

Access, adherence and retention in healthcare is thus facilitated through social and psychosocial support tailored to ensure a better quality of life and well-being for users.
