GAT Peer to Peer is a complementary program for the testing services and partner hospitals.
It is coordinated by Peers who are community members (People living with HIV and/or viral hepatitis, men who have sex with men (MSM), migrants, people who use drugs (PUD), duly trained to carry out case management among people affected and infected by HIV, viral hepatitis and tuberculosis and who need a structured and follow-up on issues related to access, adherence and retention in healthcare.
The program aims to:
1) Provide complementary and individualized support;
2) Facilitate access, adherence, and retention to healthcare;
3) Facilitate adaptation and continuation of medical treatment(s);
4) Increase health literacy;
5) Provide social and psychosocial support;
6) Promote an improvement in the quality of life;
7) Facilitate communication between the user and health professionals.
It is intended to combine the experience of Peers in case management, medical intervention, and other social support networks to guarantee a better quality of life and well-being for users.
The service provided is free and confidential.
